About us

Latvian Karate Association - LKA is a fledgling sports organization which actively takes part in national and international competitions. LKA is currently the first and exclusive representative of WKC in Latvia.

The idea of creation of independent sports organization which has common development trend with WKC has existed for a long time. In 2010 Vladislav Fetkulin (LKA president) and Kaspar Riekstinsh (vice-president of LKA) started Latvian Karate Association) which became a member of such international karate community as WKC and WUKO.

Vladislav Fetkulin is LKA creator, president and head trainer with great experience in karate. His experience concerns not only training but also organizing skills. He started to train his first team in 1996 and in already 2001 he established sports club Samurai which exists to the present day, moreover it takes part in different competitions and holds high position in Latvian karate.

The goal of Latvian Karate Association is karate development and promotion in Latvia. Development is supposed to be in two directions: sporting aspect (physical development, wish and spirit training) and karate like philosophy (karate traditions; self-control, respect t and discipline training).   A lot of different seminars are held for students; moreover, league, competitions and summer sporting camp are organized).

LKA strives to strengthen its positions in Latvian and in long-term perspective world karate. In the nearest future it is planned to cover all country regions and to hold trainings in whole Latvia. In order to develop Association at international level negotiations with WKC members from other countries together with WKC organizers are held.

LKA has a quite successful experience in inner competitions running. Association is planning to advance in this sphere and it sets a goal to run in future national and world competitions. Friendly relations with different federations and associations from other countries will facilitate this.

Future competitions run by LKA will be held according to WKC rules. This fact will help to achieve popularity as such kind of competitions had never existed in the history of Latvian Karate. It will definitely engage clubs which are interested in World Karate Confederation but due to some reasons do not take part in championships run by international sports organization.

LKA aims for expansion and accepts any karate club which shares the same goals, rules and instructions, and wishes to develop in the same direction with such world karate organization as WKC.
